LYNCHBURG, VIRGINIA (November 18th, 2020) –PlaySight Interactive, the leading global sports video technology platform, is pleased today to announce a new partnership with Liberty University. PlaySight’s Smart sports AI connected camera platform is coming to the Liberty Flames basketball program, giving the student-athletes and coaches access to a pro-level technology platform, validated by teams throughout the NBA, NCAA and leading basketball leagues and federations across the world. PlaySight already works with Liberty’s tennis program, making the Flames athletic department the latest multisport PlaySight ‘SmartSchool’ in collegiate athletics.
We had the pleasure of getting feedback from Liberty Flames’ Director of Video and Analytics, Sam Thomas to find out about the reasons they chose PlaySight and which needs they will be looking to fill with the technology.
Why did you decide to make the investment in PlaySight?
“Our main need was to streamline video systems in a way which would dramatically reduce manpower, time, and effort required to operate film. After looking at different options, we decided that PlaySight was the best and most complete choice.”
How do you plan to use PlaySight for coaching/player development?
“We love the ability to share the stream of practice and be able to live review any play during our practice. Players can watch their shooting workouts that are connected our NOAH system and get the most out of their workouts.”
What PlaySight specific features are you the most excited about?
“The SmartTracker and live replay will be the features we will use the most. I am most excited about having different synchronized angles to view as players will be able to watch the film from the perspective in which they play the game.“
Before PlaySight, how did you used to capture video in practices and games?
“We had a basic handheld camera that a manager had to operate and we had to lug around tons of equipment every day to set that up.”
