JONESBORO, ARKANSAS (September 15th, 2017) – Today, PlaySight – the company behind the cutting-edge SmartCourt sports technology – announced a new SmartCourt installation with The Academies at Jonesboro High School. PlaySight SmartCourt technology will be installed for athletes and coaches across several sports – including basketball, volleyball, cheer and dance – to use in training and games/performances. Jonesboro has a very successful athletics program and is looking to gain a new edge with PlaySight technology.

David Daniel, the Athletic Director of Jonesboro Public Schools, is looking forward to the new technology partnership. “The Academies at Jonesboro High School is extremely excited to partner with PlaySight in bringing this new technology to our school district.  Jonesboro has a very strong tradition in athletics, having won many state titles in both basketball and volleyball.  We always want to be forward thinking and provide our athletes with the best opportunities to help make them successful.  Having the ability to stop a practice and being able to show a success or correct a mistake will be so valuable to our coaching staff and players.”

The boys’ basketball program has a storied history at Jonesboro, with 14 State Championships dating back to the early 1900’s. The school has won four consecutive Conference Championships, posting an incredible 59-1 record over that time, including a 57-game conference winning streak. Last year’s team went undefeated (32-0) and finished the season ranked #5 by MaxPreps and #14 by USA Today.

Head coach Wes Swift (the 2017 MaxPreps National Coach of the Year) expects to gain a lot from the new technology. “Matt Williams [the assistant coach] and I are constantly looking for ways to improve our program.  And one of the things we talk about often is our efficiency.  We believe PlaySight can take us to another level with their technology. Being able to show our guys video right there on the practice floor to correct or to praise is something I never thought I’d be able to do at the high school level.  Being able to film all our practices and workouts was not something we have been able to do in the past because we just don’t have enough people. Live streaming all of our home games is another feature we’re looking forward to. We think our fans, alumni and relatives that live out of town and out of state will love being able to watch our home games.
