Want to learn what it is like to work at PlaySight? In our powering PlaySight series, we sit down and talk with people throughout the organization – what they do, why they chose to work at PlaySight, and where they see the company going in the future.

This week, we heard from our VP of Sales for North America, Scott McMeekin. Scott is a Virginia Tech Hokie, a hockey coach and a golf aficionado with a passion for sports and technology which he has been bringing to the PlaySight team since day 1.

What sports did you play growing up?

Scott: Anything competitive – Baseball, Hockey, Golf, Basketball, Track, Football.

What attracted you to working at PlaySight?

Scott: The people, the sports, the tech.

What is your role at PlaySight?

Scott: I am the VP of Sales for North America – which means I am able to connect with customers to understand what they are trying to accomplish and align that with our technology.

Favorite athlete of all-time?

Scott: Payne Stewart – a golfer, competitor,  and didn’t take himself too seriously. A family man as well.

Favorite team and sport?

Scott:  Any team my kids are playing on – at the moment coaching my son’s hockey team – The Maple Leafs.  The fun part is also having a chance to work at PlaySight with the NHL Toronto Maple Leafs.

What is the best part about working at PlaySight?

Scott: A combination of a lot of things with the two biggest ones being…

1) Team who has passion for innovating new sport technology

2) The connection between our elite NBA, NHL, MLB customers and the young athlete who get to use the same technology.

What has been your favorite experience so far during your time at PlaySight?

Scott:  Sitting court side at 2am at the US Open watching Nadal’s tie breaker in the 5th set.

Finish this sentence – in five years, PlaySight will…

Scott:  … PlaySight will have connected your field, court, or rink to the internet and technology will be embedded into the development of your young athlete.
