Want to learn what it is like to work at PlaySight? We’re going to spend the next few months talking to members of the team about their backgrounds in sport, what they do at PlaySight, and much more!

This week, we hear from Dani Mintz, one of our Professional Service Engineers.

What sports did you play growing up?

Dani: When I was young, I tried every sport out there, including tennis, ping pong, swimming, basketball, volleyball and soccer. But one sport was ‘love at first practice’ for me – handball. I played professionally for three years in the premier league, for my hometown team Maccabi Holon and for the U18 Israeli National Team. Today I play for Maccabi Petah Tikva in the secondary league.

What attracted you to working at PlaySight?

Dani: Like most of my colleagues, the integration between the tech world and sports. As long as I can remember, I was interested in and passionate about technology, almost as much as sports. The first time that I saw our technology was during my first national team practice at Ramat Hasharon.

The coach showed us a few drills using a touch screen with drawings and explained ‘court movement’ and other key elements. It just blew my mind and made me want to play even more – both for the team and with PlaySight’s tech.

What is your role at PlaySight?

Dani: I work in PlaySight’s Professional Services team. The work is intense, dynamic, and very interesting.

My daily routine is to solve problems for PlaySight’s customers all over the world. A lot is done remotely from the office in Israel, but many times I fly abroad to handle things on-site. The work also requires collaboration with other departments, so it is not unusual for me to take part in our QA efforts and test new products or features.

Favorite athlete of all-time?

Dani: Nikola Karabatic – one of the best handball players in the world (Google him) and James Harden, because I love the attitude he plays the game with.

Favorite team and sport?

Dani: PSG – for both handball and soccer. And the Houston rockets.

What is the best part about working at PlaySight?

Dani: The people I work with. Everybody here at PlaySight is kind and willing to help any time . The dynamic nature of my job as well. I can start my working day at the office and finish it on a plane on my way to a customer, or in a car if it is an Israeli client.

What is your favorite experience so far during your time at PlaySight?

Dani: Installing ice hockey SmartRink facilities all over France for their top professional league. It was a great experience in every way: challenging, fun and super interesting.

Finish this sentence – in five years, PlaySight will…

Dani: Be a leading sports company, especially in handball(!), all over the world.
