Want to learn what it is like to work at PlaySight? We’re going to spend the next few months talking to members of the team about their backgrounds in sport, what they do at PlaySight, and much more!

This week, we hear from one of our sales managers: Matt Gibson.

Tell us a bit more about your background before joining PlaySight.

Matt: Sure thing. I got my undergraduate degree from Lesley University, where I was point guard and captain of the Men’s Basketball program. I then went on to get my Master’s Degree from Emerson College in Boston, where I was an assistant coach for Men’s Basketball under legendary coach Jim O’Brien. It was at Emerson where I began to dive into video on the coaching side.

Since then, a few of my stops working in sports have included with the Philadelphia 76ers, Dallas Mavericks, Adidas Grassroots Basketball on the event side of things, and Hudl. One thing led to another and I began working at PlaySight – I have loved every second of it and haven’t looked back since!

What sports did you play growing up?

Matt: I played baseball, soccer and football growing up but my main focus was always basketball. My father was my coach and I played the sport year-round. I loved the game so much that I would even go shoot outside in the snow during the winters of New England. Some of my fondest memories are growing up playing AAU against future NBA players, and playing in high school/college. I have been fortunate to always be around the game.

What attracted you to working at PlaySight?

Matt: The people as well as the vision, innovation and entrepreneurial atmosphere of the company was what attracted me to PlaySight. Working in the sports tech sector is exciting because the suite of products offered will only continue to get better and better. Getting to make a positive impact on sports from the pro to youth levels is what really excited me about joining the PlaySight team. With my background at all levels of basketball and in video/tech, it was a perfect fit. We have a great team that I am lucky to work with every day.

What is your role at PlaySight?

Matt: I am a Sales Manager at PlaySight and work with clients across multiple levels of athletics. With the help of our account management team, my job is to work with our customers and make sure we are providing the most customized solution to fit their needs. Getting to build relationships with coaches across the country and aid in making their lives easier with our first in class tech is what gets me excited to work at PlaySight every day.
